ECO report on the driving quality of your drivers
In a world where environmental awareness and the need for more efficient vehicle management are increasingly prominent, our company's GPS monitoring platform is a key solution for fleets. This article describes in detail the "ECO report", an innovative function within our GPS system, which enables the improvement of the environmental performance of your fleet.
As you already know - with the GPS system you can know the location of your vehicle. However, you cannot know how "fiercely" the driver is actually driving the vehicle. It is possible for the driver to drive at low speeds (for example city delivery), but he does so by changing direction frequently, braking hard and accelerating. You can't possibly know that if you don't have accelerometers on your GPS devices that measure the G-forces that occur while driving. BeeDigital has all devices with accelerometers in its range so that it is possible to easily put an end to reckless drivers who consume significantly more fuel and cause significantly higher depreciation costs on the tires, suspension and engine of your vehicle.
The larger and heavier the vehicle - the greater the damage and your operating costs if you have a driver who likes to "squeeze the gas".
Our GPS monitoring platform with aggressive driving detection capabilities
BeeDigital it uses a globally recognized platform for GPS tracking called Wialon. It provides detailed real-time insight into the activities of your vehicles. The platform allows users to monitor the location, speed, direction of movement of the vehicle, as well as many other parameters in real time. In addition, the BeeDigital platform offers robust reporting and analytics tools, helping businesses optimize their operations and reduce operational costs.
You can see more information about our platform in the following texts:
What the platform can do is create the so-called Eco report showing how the driver drives your vehicle.
What is an ECO report?
The ECO report is a special functionality within BeeDigital platform that focuses on monitoring and analyzing environmental aspects of driving, such as fuel consumption and general driver behavior, and reduce costs for the owner (and negative impact of vehicles on the environment).
Functionalities of the ECO Report
ECO report offers a number of functionalities that enable detailed analysis of driving behavior, including:
- Analysis of driver behavior
Monitoring of driver habits is based on collected data on speeding, unnecessary acceleration, harsh braking and G-forces when cornering. All these parameters are evaluated through the system penalty points which are further used to rank drivers and identify areas for improvement.
- Personalization of parameters
The BeeDigital platform allows users to customize parameters for evaluating drivers, including setting limits for different types of violations and selecting a sensor that detects violations. This enables flexibility and adaptability of the report to the specific needs of your vehicles. There are three basic pre-defined tracking modes:
- parameters for passenger cars,
- parameters for trucks, and
- parameters for buses.
It is to be expected that the braking, acceleration and turning forces for a passenger car can be greater than for, say, a truck. Of course, you can also change these parameters manually and adapt them to your needs.

Detailed reports and analyses
Users can generate different types of reports for in-depth analysis of driver behavior, including reports by driver, group of drivers or vehicles for any period.
You can see how it looks in practice in the following picture (vehicle names have been removed due to GDPR).
Figure 2: Prepared ECO driving report
ECO report example
The above example shows a list of 8 vehicles that are in the ECO report. These are the vehicles of a client who has our GPS monitoring system. The reporting period was one week (of course it can be longer or shorter). When all information obtained from GPS tracking devices (trackers) and data obtained from accelerometers are analyzed - it is possible to conclude what quality of driving a particular vehicle is driving. Ratings are from 1 (extremely violent driving) to 10 (perfectly careful driving).
It can be seen that the first vehicle on the list has achieved grade 8.3, and made only 400 km in a total of 6 runs within a week. That vehicle was driven very carefully, without unnecessary acceleration, braking and speeding. The worst vehicle there is grade 2.9, it made 1317 km in 9 runs.
Also interesting is the information on the violations that can be seen in the table above. Violations (penalties and overages) enable the report to display information that cannot be obtained through classic reports. For example, a driver with a delivery vehicle drove by a kindergarten at a speed of 70 km/h, while the speed limit is 30 km/h. This cannot be determined on a classic GPS application, but if the permitted speeds on all roads are known - the EKO report sees it as exceeding the limit and assigns the vehicle/driver a penalty in a certain amount. The same applies to braking, accelerating, turning... And if you want to see the analytics - you can see exactly in which corner and at what time a particular vehicle had a hard turn and with which G-forces.
Reports can be made in PDF and XLSX formats for further analysis.
Advantages of the ECO report for you
By implementing an ECO report, significant benefits are possible, including:
- Reducing fuel costs
By optimizing the driver's behavior, especially by reducing sharp maneuvers and maintaining an optimal speed, it is possible to significantly reduce fuel consumption.
By monitoring and improving driver behavior, the risk of accidents is reduced, which increases the safety of vehicles, cargo and other road users.
- Savings on vehicle maintenance
By regularly monitoring and analyzing driver behavior, it is possible to reduce vehicle maintenance costs thanks to less damage and wear, especially to tires, body, engine and vehicle suspension
- Cargo security
How can you use information about driving quality?
The question arises - what to do now that you have information about the quality of the ride? Our clients use this information for additional stimulation (reward) of drivers who drive well, i.e. to discourage others.
BeeDigital Wialon platform and hers ECO report they represent a valuable tool for companies that want to improve the operational efficiency of their fleets, reduce costs, and at the same time contribute to environmental protection.
